According to a research study presented at the American Chemical Society (ACS), a new type of sweetener found in agave plant may help lower blood sugar levels and even aid in weight loss.
Agavins, the sugar substitute derived from the agave plant, were found to set-off insulin production in mice and lower their blood sugar levels. The sugar substitute also helped the mice lose weight.
Agavins help in blood sugar control by encouraging Glycogen-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) levels. Agavins also help in suppressing appetite and making one feel full for longer as these are a type of fiber. Click here to read the detailed report.
